“Mom! We should leave now, if not we will be late to Sharab and we’ll miss all the amazing salsa music”, I said hurriedly. We went to Sharab every Wednesday evening but this particular Wednesday was quite different. It was still slightly wet out side and the clouds seemed to be very dark and heavy. That evening I decided to drive, while my mom relaxed in the car and chatted about the most recent Latina news.
Our arrival was as usually, the same bouncer nodded in recognition and allowed us entry passed all the yuppies and fashionably dressed summer salsa groupies. The cold air blew my hair back and the fragrant smell of hookah adorned my presence. As I continued past the first bar the vibrations of the live salsa band began to energize my body. Suddenly there were no more concerns of the everyday, and the vivacious music became my nirvana.
I danced in a fiery spell, allowing every aspect of the music to indulge and move me. Suddenly, I felt a presence, the kind of presence that is only felt by the stare of another. I peered over my shoulder as I twirled and there he was. His presence was so powerful and his eyes were so pure, that I thought to myself. This is love at first site.
